I am an avid bread baker. I make all of my own bread at home and have been doing this for many years. Contrary to what many people think, bread making is not a laborous process and is extremely gratifying. In one weekend I often manage to make enough bread to last 5 to 6 weeks and I wouldn't know what I would do without my homemade bread.

2. Chad Robertson is considered, by many, to be one of the best bread makers in the United States. This book shares his many tried and tested bread recipes and his unique breadmaking techniques.

3. This book by Peter Reinhart, a leader in artisanal bread making, is a must-have for anyone new to bread making or if you are looking to improve your bread making skills. With beautiful picture illustrations, clear instructions and varied recipes this book will keep you busy in the kitchen for weeks.

4. For a more technichal bread book this is a very good option. It is designed for professionals, amateurs and home cooks and covers a wonderful variety of recipes and skills.
