There Is A Global Pencil Shortage

Nasri Atallah By Nasri Atallah Published on October 2, 2016

I was flicking through the Summer issue of Penguin's The Happy Reader magazine when I came across a beautiful little morsel of information. Apparently, the popularity of coloring books for adults has created a global pencil shortage.

From the magazine:

"Pencil vendors from Brazil to New Zealand are struggling to acquire enough stock for their customer base, and Faber-Castell, the world's biggest manufacturer, has upped factory shifts in an attempt to meet demand. With another pencil-powered craze emerging from the puzzle books in the form of 'extreme dot-to-dot', the exciting times for the pencil industry don't look to be ending any time soon."

Exciting times indeed.
