Founded in 1986, the Singapore Writers Festival is a yearly event that presents international literary talents to Singaporeans as well as focusing on local and Southeast Asian creative talents.

It is a multilingual festival held in Singapore’s official languages: English, Malay, Chinese and Tamil. Spread over ten days, the festival organizes panel discussions, workshops, lectures and performances. This year the theme will be Sayang, a Malay word that has multiple layers of meaning: it is used as a term of endearment, expressing effusive love and adoration, and at the same time, it can also refer to pity and a bittersweet sense of lost opportunities.

The Festival will take place in the Civic District in buildings such as The Arts House, The National Gallery and the Asian Civilisations Museum.
