Mathias Enard is a french author and translator born in 1972 in Niort (France). He is a travelling Author.

After studying at "L'école du Louvre" he learned Arabic and Persian and travelled accross the middle east for his research. He worked as a Translator and taught Arabic at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

His first novel, La perfection du Tir (2003, Prix des cinq continents de la francophonie, Prix Edmée-de-La-Rochefoucauld), narrates the life of a sniper during a civil war, probably during the Lebanese civil war (1975-1990).

In 2008, he publishes Zone (Actes Sud, Prix Décembre, Prix du Livre Inter), a novel without punctuation, written as if it were a long sentence (which is not, as the author explained), that reflects, from the point of view of a traveller, former intelligence officer, on the Mediterranean.
