It's hard to narrow down a list of the best books to just five. My favorites shelf on Goodreads has 18 books, and that was hard enough to do! However, if I had to choose just five books that I think are the very best, it would be the following.

Einstein's Dreams

Einstein's Dreams is a thought-provoking story about various conceptions of time - each is represented in a different world. In one, for example, time is circular, and people are forced to relive the same experiences over and over. I'm not a writer and I can't do it justice, but it's a beautiful book.

Ethan Frome

Edith Wharton is one of my favorite novelists. In my opinion, all of her stories are bittersweet and melancholy. Ethan Frome is my favorite of them all. It felt like it ripped my heart out.

Haruki Murakami is my favorite author. His magical realism is so beautifully written that you forget just how ridiculous some of the scenarios can be. His stories all have similar themes and characters, but rather than coming across as repetitive, it's comforting.
