New to Netflix US in October. Buy This Month's Best New Additions Based on Books

Netflix and chill.

No matter the connotation, these three little words have become as ubiquitous as the streaming giant, and after truly changing the entertainment business, Netflix's game is only getting stronger.

Today, we highlight the best book-related movies and TV shows that will be making their Netflix debut this month, giving you everything you need to Netflix and/or chill.

Note: This list applies to Netflix US only.

Never Let Me Go

Just in time to celebrate his win, the film version of newly-minted Nobel laureate Kazuo Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go hits Netflix. Sad, elegant, and beautiful, the book details a tragic romance set in a disturbingly possible dystopian future, and the movie is just as lyrical and atmospheric as it's source material.

Available on Netflix: October 1st

Death Sentence

James Wan, director of The Conjuring, helmed the 2007 film loosely based on Brian Garfield's 1975 novel Death Sentence. The story of a man who takes justice into his own hands after he is the victim of a horrific crime, Garfield is no stranger to the concept of vigilantism. He penned Death Wish, which became the cult classic starring Charles Bronson.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Tim Burton's 2005 adaptation hits the streaming service this month. While Johnny Depp's more overtly creepy take on Willy Wonka isn't nearly as beloved as Gene Wilder's, it's still a great excuse to revisit Roald Dahl's classic tale.

Available on Netflix: October 1st

This Netflix original, their first Italian production, debuts it's first season this month. A neo-noir featuring warring politicians and crime families, it's being billed as The Wire in Italy, so it's a good idea to check out the best-selling novel it's based on, newly available in English.

Available on Netflix: October 6th

Gone Girl director David Fincher returns to Netflix to shepherd season 1 of this thriller, based on the chilling non-fiction bestseller that introduced the world to the concept of criminal profiling. The book gives us an insider's perspective on an elite FBI unit tasked with hunting serial killers, and since Fincher's also the guy who directed Seven and Zodiac, this is definitely in good hands.

Available on Netflix: October 13th

Full Dark, No Stars

A movie adaptation of a novella from the big cheese himself, horror maestro Stephen King, debuts this month. 1922, taken from this collection of short stories, tells the story of a man who hatches a plot to murder his wife. In true Stephen King fashion, things do not go as planned. If it's even half as effective as the King's last Netflix adaptation, Gerald's Game, we're in for a treat.
