Professor George Edward Challenger first made a name for himself as a travelling adventurer and investigator. Unfortunately, he has never succeeded in solving the greatest mystery of all... and as a result does not know what he is a professor of. He has never allowed his lack of understanding of his professorship to slow him. Instead, he has redoubled his efforts, professing to know this and that at anyone who will listen to him. Often, it is only after ten or even fifteen minutes of pontificating that he realises he is ignorant of his subject, and so must interrupt his lectures to apologise and immediately leave.
