Thomas Harris is an American writer.
Born in Jackson, Tennessee in 1940, he attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas where he majored in English and graduated in 1964, he began his writing career covering crime in the United States and Mexico.
He was also a reporter and editor for the Associated Press in New York City.
All of his works have been made into films, the most notable being The Silence of the Lambs, which became only the third film in Academy Award history to sweep the Oscars in major categories.
