Laleh Khadivi is an Iranian American novelist, and filmmaker.
Born in Esfahan, Iran in 1977, she emigrated to the United States with her family in 1979 and graduated from Reed College and from Mills College with an MFA.
She writes novels in English and works as director, producer and cinematographer of documentary films.
She has also taught creative writing at Santa Clara University.


Laleh Khadivi was awarded numerous prizes including the Whiting Award for fiction (2008), Carl Djerassi Fellowship, Emory Fiction Fellowship and Soros Foundation Award.
